When we think of Christmas, we think of Christmas Trees, Lights, Decorations, Gifts, Family Gatherings, Santa Claus and FOOD! Yes, the glorious-sumptuous assorted food spread to be enjoyed by all! Whether they are home-cooked or ordered, Christmas menus can be a wide range of selections covering appetisers, main courses, desserts and drinks.

We’ve gathered some recipes for you to try at home for Christmas potluck dinners and gatherings. Here are some ideas and we hope they help!

Cheeses, Fruit & Nuts Platter


  • Cheeses:
    Parmesan, Gouda, Cheddar, Brie, Blue cheeses – Gorgonzola or Saint Agure, Swiss, Mozzarella, Colby Jack, etc.
    *You may choose all or 2-4 selections.
  • Fruits:
    Dried Fruits – Raisins, Apricots, Cranberries, Dates, Pineapples, Figs
    Fresh Fruits – Grapes, Green Apples, Mixed Berries – Blueberries, Strawberries, Raspberries, etc.
    *You may choose all or 2-4 selections.
  • Nuts:
    Walnuts, Pistachios, Cashews, Almonds, Macadamia Nuts, Peanuts/Groundnuts, etc.
    *You may choose all or 2-4 selections.
    *Beware of allergies
  • Crackers, assorted cheese and light biscuits, or chips/crisps
  • Butter, Honey or Jam for a nice spreading touch


    For plating, you will need a medium to large round or square plate, board, or tray.
    – Start with cheeses, then add in crisps, biscuits/crackers, fruit & nuts
    – Other herbs, spreads and jams can be served on the sides

Garden Fresh Fruit & Salad


  • 1 packet Lettuce
  • 1 stick Cucumber

  • 1 stick Carrot

  • 1 packet Baby Tomatoes

  • 1 can Cannellini Beans

  • 1 Red Pepper
  • 3 hard-boiled eggs (cut into halves or quarters)
  • 2 cups Croutons
  • 1/2 cup Raisins
  • 1 cup Pomegranate fruit
  • Salt & Pepper to taste


    For Dressing:

  • Zest & Juice of 1/2 Lemon
  • Zest & Juice of 1/2 Orange
  • 2 Tbs Honey
  • 1 Tsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1/4 Tsp Coriander
  • 1/3 cup Extra Virgin Olive or Coconut Oil

    1) Combine all vege & fruits in a large bowl
    2) Season the salad with salt & pepper
    3) To make the dressing, combine all wet items well and then drip the oil while whisking the mixture.
    4) Toss dressing & salad together and finally add the croutons & eggs.

Pan Seared Ribeye Steak
  • Ribeye Steak
  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil or unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves pounded garlic
  • fresh thyme herb
  • fresh rosemary herb
  • salt & pepper to taste

    1) Season steak generously with salt and pepper.
    2) Heat a pan over medium high heat until very hot, about 1-2 minutes; add 1 tbsp butter.
    3) Place the steak in the middle of the pan and cook, turning every 2-3 minutes, until a dark crust has formed on both sides, about 12-14 minutes.
    Reduce heat to medium low. Push steak to one side of the pan; add remaining butter, garlic, thyme and rosemary to opposite side of the pan, tilting the pan towards the butter and cooking until butter is foaming, about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
    5) Slowly spoon butter over steak for 1-2 minutes, turning over once, until it reaches an internal temperature of 120 degrees F for medium rare, or until desired doneness. Let rest 15 minutes before slicing (Use a digital food thermometer to check temperature).
    6) Reheat in baking oven for 10 minutes before serving.

Pan Seared Salmon with Lemon Garlic Butter Sauce


  • Salmon Fillets or Steak Cuts
  • 1 Lemon (save a few thin slices for garnishing)
  • 1 more Lemon – Juiced
  • Olive Oil
  • 1/2 stick Butter – cut into small cubes
  • Garlic – sliced thinly
  • Parsley
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

  • *Optional* White Wine

    1) Season salmon cuts with salt & pepper 
    2) Cut & squeeze fresh lemon onto both sides of the salmon
    3) Heat oil in a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat.
    4) Sear salmon flesh sides first for fillet cuts and on either sides for steak cuts until crispy and golden.
    5) Flip and sear other side until crispy
    6) Add butter, garlic, parsley and juice of lemon, while stirring the cubes of melting butter around each fillet.
    7) *Optional step* Finish with 3-5 tbsp of White Wine.
    8) Pop into baking oven for 20mins before serving hot.

Christmas Pudding paired with Dessert Wine


  • 100g self-raising flour
  • 50g dark brown sugar

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg powder

  • 1/2 tsp mixed spice powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 175g breadcrumbs

  • 175g vegetable oil or shortening

  • 1.25kg raisins 

  • 220g currants
  • 220g sultanas
  • 25g chopped almonds

  • 200g granny smith apple (grated)
  • 3 large eggs

  • 1/2 large orange (zest & juice)

  • 75ml Guinness stout

    1) Sift flour with spices and mix in dry ingredients.
    2) Add in the apple and mix until well incorporated.
    3) In another bowl, beat the eggs and mix until frothy. Stir in orange juice and zest.
    4) Mix both wet and dry mixtures until combined thoroughly.
    5) Fill the final mixture into buttered pudding pan and cover with foil. Place the pan in a tray of boiling water and steam for 6 hours, top up water if need be.
    6) Reheat by steaming the same way again before serving.
    7) Pair with Dessert Wine and enjoy!

Christmas Eggnogs (Alcoholic)


  • 4 egg yolks
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/3 cup of sugar
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3oz bourbon whiskey
  • 1 tsp nutmeg powder
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice & zest

  • Directions
    1) In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the egg yolks until they lighten in color. Gradually add the 1/3 cup sugar and continue to beat until it is completely dissolved. Add the milk, cream, bourbon and nutmeg and stir to combine.
    2) Place the egg whites in the bowl of a stand mixer and beat to soft peaks. With the mixer still running gradually add the 1 tablespoon of sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
    3) Whisk the egg whites into the mixture. Chill and serve.
    4) Cook’s Note: For cooked eggnog, follow procedure below.
    5) In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the egg yolks until they lighten in color. Gradually add the 1/3 cup sugar and continue to beat until it is completely dissolved. Set aside.
    6) In a medium saucepan, over high heat, combine the milk, heavy cream and nutmeg and bring just to a boil, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat and gradually temper the hot mixture into the egg and sugar mixture. Then return everything to the pot and cook until the mixture reaches 160 degrees F. Remove from the heat, stir in the bourbon, pour into a medium mixing bowl, and set in the refrigerator to chill.
    7) In a medium mixing bowl, beat the egg whites to soft peaks. With the mixer running gradually add the 1 tablespoon of sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. Whisk the egg whites into the chilled mixture.
