Malaysia’s e-Commerce Marketplace Highlights on What's Next for Malaysians as Extra Precautions Becomes Vital Post-MCO

Kuala Lumpur, 4 May 2020 – The future retail environment is changing. In the wake of the Movement Control Order (MCO), non-essential brick-and-mortar retailers had their operations suspended until social distancing measures ease. With Malaysia getting on track to flatten the COVID-19 curve and the imposing of conditional MCO nationwide, local eCommerce company LamboPlace believes that businesses looking to thrive will need to plan ahead for a successful recovery. 

“Even after the MCO, we anticipate strict social distancing guidelines when shopping in stores. Businesses and customers will have to adapt to the new normal, sanitising and cleaning accordingly until treatments or vaccines become readily available. The reliance on eCommerce will continue to grow, as it becomes more a necessity than simply an option for all businesses. Covid-19 will not end in the next 1-2 years until a vaccine is formulated and tested. We need to adapt with the new norm. While going digital can be beneficial during this season of social distancing, LamboPlace finds that while COVID-19 has created a sense of urgency among businesses to shift operations online, the true key to continued success lies in increasing the number of channels in which customer outreach can be done, whether online or offline. In anticipating the need for safer public spaces, LamboPlace has inked a MoU with Biolux Network (Asia) Sdn Bhd. Another MoU was signed with local brand TJM Products Sdn Bhd. According to the terms of the MoU, LamboPlace has been appointed by both companies to act as the eCommerce platform to supply chemical-free disinfection products from Biolux and the product brand 59S from authorised distributor, TJM. 

“At Biolux, our health and wellness come first, and so we use natural resources in our products that are not only good for us, but also for our environment. Through our patented technology, our chemical-free disinfection products remove bacteria and viruses by up to 99.99%. We want to continue fighting COVID-19, and strategic partnerships with LamboPlace will allow us better reach out to consumers,” said Ivan Kuan, CEO of Biolux Network (Asia) Sdn. Bhd.

“This pandemic has shown us that we need to improve our prevention methods. While frequently washing our hands and wearing masks can help with lowering the risk, we believe that technology can still be applied to ensure safety. Our UVC LED range of products have been used to sterilise devices In hospitals for 60 years, eliminating almost all the germs and bacteria by destroying DNA & RNA physically,” said Eddie Beh, Managing Director of TJM Products Sdn. Bhd. 

As businesses shift from offline to online in order to meet consumer demands, measures will have to be put in place in anticipation of the end to the MCO.
